From a blog post: "Dreams to Reality"
August 21, 2008

We began with this somewhat simple idea of creating a celebration for peace, featuring talent, artwork, performances and real life peace workers in an effort to build awareness and generate some donations for real-world organizations.

Thank you all for helping us get there! There are so many people to thank. While we expected to close the PeaceFest down at 11:00pm SLT on Sunday August 19, you continued. You continued singing, performing, dancing, laughing and contributing to the cause. THANK YOU.

Our total contribution reached way beyond our expectations - $869,718 Lindens.  This was something around $3200 US dollars.  And while this may not seem like much money to some audiences, for some of our recipients, this will be something useful indeed.

Thank you all – from all of us at Peace Train – for making this such a fantastic experience.  You will be hearing more from Peace Train…

Action: Nine organizations received monetary contributions from Peace Train. The Peace Train Charitable Trust was established. This website will tell you the rest of the story : ) - - maybe you should hop on board the Peace Train...

We had fun too : ) Fantastic scripted animations, lights, live music and spoken word. Wow.

Another organization we supported; located in Kampala, Uganda.

MPRTO - focuses on messages, and journalistic freedom.

An MPRTO event.

In Second Life, we had information panels on the organizations running around the clock.

This organization is located in Kigali, Rwanda.

They work with children whose parents were killed in the genocide.

Beautiful.

The future.

And let's not forget the talent! SO much live music from many nations...this was at a sim called Woodstock...

The Virtual Africa sim was the venue for a number of interviews with represntatives...

Representatives from Uthango, based in Cape Town, South Africa, and others...

Uthango assists women with education and small business loans.

At the end of it all, Peace Train was able to deliver financial support - in this case directly in Linden dollars to Uthango.
